Fostering Courageous and Critical-Thinking Students: HMJ Infinis of Polman Negeri Babel Hosts Character Education Program
Students from the Informatics and Business Department at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) participated in a Character Education (Pendikar) event held in the campus auditorium on Saturday (October 3, 2026).
The event provided a platform for students to gain insights into organizational matters, personal development, and various student activities. Speakers included Polman Babel lecturers Riki Afriansyah, M.T., and Muhammad Hizbul Wathan, M.Kom., alongside students Adinda Islamaya, Mozaik Plamonia Ramadhan, and Zilian Ilham.
When contacted on Monday (October 5, 2026), Jihan, the Chairperson of the Informatics and Business Department Student Association (HMJ Infinis), explained that the participants received information on several topics, including the HMJ Infinis itself, the Student Creativity Program (PKM), the National Informatics and Polytechnic Student Competition (KMIPN), and the National Informatics and Computer Student Association (Permikomnas).
"Pendikar can offer benefits to students, particularly in shaping their character—fostering discipline, creativity, and a sense of responsibility, as well as the courage to speak up and think critically—so that the values instilled serve them well in the future," she acknowledged.
She added that students who do not participate in the event miss out on opportunities to gain experience and knowledge that could support their development throughout their studies.
"Students who do not attend are truly missing out, as the experience and material shared are incredibly valuable," she said.

Meanwhile, Adinda Islamaya—a student speaker—expressed her delight at being invited by the junior students of HMJ Infinis to share her experiences from the recent KMIPN competition. Alhamdulillah, it went smoothly, and the students were full of enthusiasm," she added.
In line with this, Adinda—alongside her faculty advisor, Riki Afriansyah—shared her experiences and encouraged students to have the courage to participate in various competitions during their time at university.
"Fortunately, I did not struggle alone. I worked with a team that shared a unified vision and goal, collaborating effectively to achieve the desired results," she said.
On the other hand," she emphasized, "character education can encourage students to decide which activities to pursue during their university years, giving them a clearer idea of the competitive areas that align with their individual interests and abilities.
