Amidst the Rise of AI, Lecturer from State Polytechnic of Bangka Belitung Conducts Technology Seminar at SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Katis

As Artificial Intelligence (AI) technology becomes increasingly integrated into daily life, Riki Afriansyah, M.T.—a lecturer in the Software Engineering Technology program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic—spoke at a seminar on Technology and Artificial Intelligence at SMK Negeri 1 Simpang Katis on Friday (September 25, 2026).
Riki Afriansyah noted that the seminar offered students a valuable opportunity to learn more about AI advancements and understand the various opportunities arising from rapid technological progress. The session covered topics ranging from AI developments, technology demonstrations, and career prospects to the technology's connection to the field of software engineering.
Addressing the students, Riki emphasized that AI development must be balanced with creative thinking skills, given that AI can now assist in generating various forms of content—including text, images, program code, and other digital products.
"Amidst the expanding capabilities of AI, humans must still possess creative thinking skills; the ability to generate ideas, view problems from multiple perspectives, innovate, and create solutions remains crucial," he explained.
The presence of AI should not be viewed as a replacement for human labor; rather, the technology can be leveraged to help individuals work faster, develop ideas, and produce higher-quality work," he asserted.
"Therefore, Riki encourages students to cultivate the habit of using AI wisely and creatively; by combining human capabilities with technology, students are expected to be able to create relevant works and solutions that meet actual needs," he added.
"He hopes that the insights gained from the seminar will inspire students to be more creative and open to technological advancements, while also preparing them to meet industry demands—particularly in the fields of technology and software engineering," he explained.
"Through this activity, students are not merely introduced to the sophistication of AI; they are also encouraged to understand creativity and critical thinking in the face of rapidly accelerating technological change," he noted.
