A lecturer from the State Polytechnic of Babel's TRPL (Teaching and Training for the Community) designed a new TRKJ study program after a visit to Moratelindo.
Lecturers from the Software Engineering Technology (TRPL) Study Program at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) visited the national telecommunications company, PT Moratelindo, as part of the Field of Practice (FOP) program, or online Network Engineering course, on Wednesday (November 5, 2025).
Three Polman Babel lecturers, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., Firdaus, M.Kom., and Muhammad Iqbal, M.Eng., attended the visit. The goal was to strengthen the lecturers' competency in the telecommunications industry and explore opportunities for ongoing collaboration.
When confirmed on Thursday (November 6, 2025), one of the participating lecturers, Firdaus, M.Kom., explained that the Field of Practice program will be developed into a collaborative course between Polman Babel and Moratelindo, combining campus theory with hands-on practice," he said.
"The story isn't over yet; Firdaus plans to follow up with a formal collaboration by signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Polman Babel and PT Moratelindo," he explained.

Another interesting fact is that many new experiences and knowledge were gained during the visit, particularly regarding fiber optic network technology.
"We've learned everything from standardizing 12-core FO cable color codes and tube structures, cable splicing techniques, to introducing network devices such as OLTs, routers, GPON APs, and customer network distribution systems," he explained.
Furthermore, another lecturer, Riki Afriansyah, M.T., stated that this collaboration, based on his direct experience with telecommunications companies, can strengthen the curriculum and encourage the creation of new study programs in computer networking.
"We want to launch a new study program, Computer and Network Engineering Technology (TRKJ), at Polman Babel. TRPL is an ideal partner for TRPL, ensuring a more comprehensive technology education ecosystem on campus," he said.
"As a follow-up, the Trpl teaching team is currently preparing a curriculum design with courses relevant to industry needs, such as Fiber Optic Technology and GPON, Network Administration and Security, Network Monitoring and Troubleshooting, and FO Cable Splicing and Management Practicums," he added.
This development plan will be accompanied by mentoring from industry in developing a curriculum based on the Indonesian National Qualifications Framework (KKNI) and Outcome-Based Education (OBE), so that Polman Babel graduates are able to compete in the telecommunications industry," he concluded.
