Building a Drug-Free Generation: Bangka BNNK Provides Briefing at Polman Negeri Babel’s Student Orientation (PPKMB)
Dita Febriani, S.I.Kom., a drug prevention educator at the Bangka Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK), educated new students at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel) on the dangers of drug abuse and urged them to avoid narcotics to safeguard their health, future, and academic achievements.
Amidst the series of activities for the New Student Campus Life Introduction (PPKMB), hundreds of new students from the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic received a briefing on the dangers of drug abuse from the Bangka Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK) on Wednesday (August 5, 2026).
The event, held in the campus auditorium, was attended by the Head of BNNK Bangka, Hariyansyah, S.T., and his staff. It aimed to build early awareness among students, empowering them to reject all forms of narcotics and illicit drug abuse.
In her presentation, BNNK Bangka Drug Prevention Educator Dita Febriani, S.I.Kom., highlighted the severe consequences of drug abuse—impacting health, future prospects, and economic stability—noting that it can gradually destroy the body and even threaten one's life.
Dita explained that the best ways to avoid drug abuse include choosing a healthy social circle, resisting negative peer pressure, avoiding aimless late-night outings, and heeding the advice of parents and lecturers. She also urged students never to experiment with drugs out of curiosity, as such experimentation can be the gateway to addiction.
"Remember, using drugs wastes money that could otherwise be spent on supporting your academic needs and developing your personal potential," she said.
Furthermore, she encouraged students to face life's challenges wisely rather than running away from problems, to strengthen their personal resolve, to keep their aspirations and future in mind, and to fill their time with hobbies or beneficial, positive activities.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Bangka Regency National Narcotics Agency (BNNK), Hariyansyah, S.T., expressed his pleasure at returning to the Polman Babel campus. He noted that even though he and his team had traveled there by motorcycle, the journey did not dampen their enthusiasm for educating students—a group that must be protected from the threat of drugs.
Hariyansyah highlighted that drug abuse in Bangka Belitung remains a serious concern, as the number of cases tends to rise annually; adolescents and university students are particularly vulnerable if they fail to choose their social circles wisely.
The wrong environment can exert a negative influence and lead someone into drug abuse; conversely, associating with people engaged in positive activities helps build strong character and keeps one away from drugs," Hariyansyah emphasized.
