SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Besar Visits Polman Negeri Babel; Students Explore Study Programs and Campus Facilities
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) hosted a visit from students and teachers of SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Besar as part of a "goes to campus" program on Thursday (October 22, 2026). The visit was designed to introduce the students to vocational higher education, the available study programs, and the learning facilities offered at Polman Babel.
During the visit, Somawardi, M.T., Head of the Academic, Student Affairs, and Cooperation Division at Polman Babel, provided an overview of the campus profile, study program options, educational facilities, and a learning system that integrates both theory and practice.
He also shared information regarding scholarship opportunities for high-achieving students, internship programs, and field work placements—all of which are integral components of the learning experience in vocational higher education.

He further emphasized that high school (SMA) students should pursue higher education after graduation, noting that vocational education is an excellent choice for developing competencies and skills through a blend of practical application and theory.
" Do not hesitate to enroll in a vocational program at Polman Babel. Beyond fields like mechanical and electronic engineering, we also offer study programs in fisheries, plantations, agriculture, software engineering technology, computer network engineering technology, digital business, as well as digital banking and finance," he stated.
Meanwhile, Harta Lubis, S.Pd., Principal of SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Besar, expressed his pleasure in bringing his students to visit Polman Babel, noting that it was a valuable first-hand experience for them to get acquainted with the campus environment through this "goes to campus" initiative.
In fact, we plan to recommend Polman Babel to our final-year students in 2027 as an option for pursuing higher education—whether through the National Selection Based on Achievement (SNBP), the National Selection Based on Tests (SNBT), or the independent admission track—in accordance with the prevailing new student admission policies," he acknowledged.

The school will subsequently survey student interests to identify the fields of expertise and study programs that align with their personal aspirations and competencies.
" We will gather data on students interested in pursuing higher education, while also assessing their competencies to determine which study programs at Polman Babel best match their goals," he added.
Concluding the visit, representatives from SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Besar presented a token of appreciation to Polman Babel, expressing gratitude for the warm welcome. They noted that the visit provided a clearer understanding of vocational higher education, which will help students make informed decisions regarding their further education in line with their individual interests and aspirations," he concluded.
