Helping Residents Recover After a Fire in Serdang Hamlet, the Mechanical Engineering Student Association of the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic Distributes Aid
The Mechanical Engineering Student Association (HMJ) of the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) demonstrated social concern for others by providing aid to victims of a fire that struck a densely populated residential area in Serdang Village, Jelutung 2, Simpang Rimba District, South Bangka Regency, Bangka Belitung Islands, on Friday (October 16, 2026).
The aid was presented directly by the Head of the Polman Babel Mechanical Engineering Student Association, Reza Fahlevi, accompanied by several members and board officials of the association.
When contacted on Monday (October 19, 2026), Reza Fahlevi stated that the association felt deeply moved and compelled to help alleviate the burdens faced by the residents of Serdang Village. "We hope this assistance proves useful and provides encouragement for the victims to get back on their feet," he said.
Reza noted that the distribution of aid was carried out in collaboration with the Family Welfare Empowerment (TP PKK) team of Karya Makmur Village, Pemali District. The aid was handed over symbolically to the Karya Makmur Village TP PKK team, who will ensure it reaches the disaster victims on the ground.
"Hopefully, this aid can help lighten the burden on those affected by the fire, which destroyed a residential area and left the victims—who have lost both their homes and their valuables—in deep sorrow," she stated.
Meanwhile, Yuli, a representative from the TP PKK (Family Welfare Empowerment) team of Karya Makmur Village, remarked that the social sensitivity and initiative shown by the students from Polman Babel (Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic for Manufacturing) are truly remarkable. She assured that all the collected aid would be properly distributed to the fire victims.
She further added that this emergency response and the concern demonstrated by the Polman Babel academic community are expected to strengthen bonds among the residents, while also inspiring other segments of society to contribute to post-disaster recovery efforts in South Bangka Regency.
