Riki Afriansyah, M.T., a lecturer at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Negeri Babel), received a certificate as a resource person for AI and Python learning at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Selan.
Riki Afriansyah, a lecturer at the Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic, conducted a session on the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Python to foster student potential at SMA Negeri 1 Sungai Selan on Friday (October 9, 2026).
The event was attended by 60 students and their supervising teachers. The session aimed to introduce advancements in digital technology while enhancing students' abilities to utilize AI and understand the fundamentals of programming.
Speaking on the occasion, Riki Afriansyah explained that using technology to seek information must be balanced with the ability to develop ideas, design solutions, and hone the skills needed to navigate the challenges of the digital era.
" Through this session, students are expected not only to be able to use technology to find information but also to develop ideas, design solutions, and enhance their critical and creative thinking skills," he explained.
He added that the activity also introduced students to the use of artificial intelligence (AI), the Python programming language, and the fundamentals of coding. Students were also introduced to the concept of computational thinking through case studies designed to hone their logical, systematic, and creative problem-solving skills.

According to Riki, mastering technology and digital skills is crucial for the younger generation to keep pace with the rapidly evolving times.
“ Students must be prepared to keep learning and developing their capabilities. Otherwise, they risk falling behind amidst the rapid advancement of the digital era,” he added.
Riki noted that this learning activity represents a form of implementing the *Tridharma Perguruan Tinggi* (Three Pillars of Higher Education) by lecturers from Polman Negeri Babel, specifically in the areas of education and community service.
"Through this activity, it is hoped that students will gain greater familiarity with AI technology and programming, and be able to develop their potential to face future challenges in education and the workforce," he concluded.
