Inaugurated by the Governor of Bangka Belitung, the BBIS Campus of the Bangka Belitung State Polytechnic of Manufacturing Strengthens Fisheries Vocational Education.
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) inaugurated the Central Fish Seed Center (BBIS) campus—designated for the Applied Bachelor’s Study Program in Aquaculture Technology—in Tutut Village, Pemali District, Bangka Regency, on Wednesday (October 14, 2026). This initiative aims to advance vocational education, specifically within the aquaculture sector.
The event was attended by the Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Dr. (HC) Hidayat Arsani, S.E., accompanied by provincial government officials—including the Regional Secretary and representatives from agencies overseeing education, marine affairs and fisheries, and archives—as well as the Speaker of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Council (DPRD), the Head of Pemali District, the Head of Penyamun Village and village officials, and the Polman Babel academic community, comprising lecturers, educational staff, and students.
In his remarks, the Director of Polman Babel, I Made Andik Setiawan, Ph.D., explained that the BBIS site—covering approximately five hectares—was formerly an asset of the Bangka Belitung Islands Provincial Government. It was officially granted to Polman Babel in 2024 following a concerted effort to ensure the area could be utilized to support the development of vocational education.
He added that upon receiving the grant, Polman Babel immediately undertook asset organization and security measures. These ranged from building rehabilitation and land administration processing to the upgrading of various facilities; continuous, phased improvements are being carried out to ensure the campus grounds effectively support educational and learning activities.

I Made noted that institutional development requires determination, effort, and the support of all staff—fueled by a spirit of togetherness and a positive response from various stakeholders—and he expressed optimism that the development of the BBIS campus would continue to progress.
“With the intention of advancing education, we must not lose heart. What matters is the effort and support of all staff, along with a positive response from all parties; God willing, it can all be realized,” he explained.

He further noted Polman Babel's continued growth, stating, "In 2010, the student body stood at around 450, whereas by 2026, the number of students had reached 2,041, supported by a faculty of 123 lecturers."
He also expressed his gratitude to the Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands and his administration for attending the inauguration of the BBIS campus—which houses the Applied Bachelor’s Study Program in Aquaculture Technology—and for signing the campus inauguration plaque.

Meanwhile, the Governor of the Bangka Belitung Islands, Dr. (HC) Hidayat Arsani, S.E., affirmed his support for the development of vocational education at Polman Babel. He expressed hope that the inauguration of the BBIS campus would encourage students to pursue their studies earnestly, enabling them to become an outstanding and resilient young generation.
The Governor also emphasized the importance of three elements in life—health, education, and faith—noting that health is the primary asset for living, education serves to enhance knowledge and intellect, and faith acts as a guide for distinguishing between good and bad, including matters of what is *halal* (permissible) and *haram* (forbidden).

In addition to focusing on educational development, Hidayat Arsani also addressed the condition of the access roads to the BBIS campus, highlighting the need for road improvements so that students, lecturers, educational staff, and the public can reach the campus area more comfortably.
"I will make an effort to contact the Regent of Bangka and all relevant parties regarding the necessary budget support for the construction and repair of the campus access roads," he asserted.
Equally important, the inauguration of the BBIS campus is expected to mark a sustainable step for Polman Babel in developing vocational education in the field of aquaculture, while simultaneously strengthening support for enhancing the quality of human resources in the Bangka Belitung Islands Province," he concluded.
