170 Diploma III Students from Polman Negeri Babel Attend Pre-Internship Briefing Ahead of Company Placements
Harwadi, M.Ed., provided orientation to Diploma III students from Polman Negeri Babel, emphasizing a proactive, disciplined, and professional attitude, as well as the importance of upholding the alma mater's image, prior to their industrial internships or work placements at companies.
The Bangka Belitung State Manufacturing Polytechnic (Polman Babel) conducted a preparatory session for Diploma III students prior to their Field Work Practice (PKL) or internships at various companies, aiming to ensure they are mentally, physically, and professionally prepared.
A total of 170 students attended the briefing held at the Polman Babel Hall on Friday (July 24, 2026). These students—drawn from the Diploma III study programs in Machine Maintenance and Repair, Mechanical Design Engineering, and Electronics—are scheduled to undertake their internships between August and December 2026.
Academic advisors also attended the event to provide support and guidance, recognizing the importance of ensuring students are well-prepared for their internships and capable of upholding the institution's reputation while in a corporate environment.
When contacted on Monday (July 27, 2026), Harwadi, M.Ed., Head of the Academic Support Unit for Career Development and Entrepreneurship at Polman Babel, emphasized the need for a proactive approach and initiative during the internship period. "Students should be bold enough to ask questions, offer assistance, and propose ideas that can make a positive contribution," he stated.
In addition to a proactive attitude, students are equipped with an understanding of professionalism so they can maintain punctuality, discipline, and a sense of responsibility, while also adhering to all rules and regulations at the company where they are interning," he explained.
Furthermore, qualities such as humility and effective communication skills—including the ability to provide regular progress updates, communicate any challenges encountered, maintain a polite demeanor, and build positive relationships with supervisors and colleagues—are essential during their time at the company.
"Students must study the company profile before beginning their internship; mental and physical preparation, as well as setting personal learning goals, are necessary steps to ensure they derive the maximum benefit from the internship experience," he added.
"Most importantly, students are expected to serve as proud ambassadors of Polman Babel—the leading vocational campus in Bangka Belitung—throughout their internship. By demonstrating superior character, a strong work ethic, discipline, and competence, students not only represent themselves but also uphold Polman Babel’s image and strengthen the positive relationship between the campus and its partner companies," Harwadi emphasized.
